I would love a native PS5 version of Ghost. Taking the PS5 backwards compatability patch and pushing it even farther?

  Sign me up!

Regarding the PC port; time for everyone to freak out about the game coming to PC. As if PC Game Pass doesn’t do the same thing with Microsoft’s exclusives but on day one.

Yeah, if you’re going for a cross-generation, multiplatform strategy for first-party releases like Sony at least partially is, trumpeting about how games don’t appear anywhere else isn’t a great strategy.

Pretty soon, the only games that PC won’t get will be first-party Nintendo exclusives.

Too bad buying a new GPU for a decent price is next to impossible at the moment.

Ok, if exclusives are not exclusives anymore after about a year (and not 4) then, bye bye PlayStation

@Grimwood I wouldn’t go THAT far, but it is an interesting choice imo. The exclusives being exclusive is a major contributing factor to what made the PS4 dominate. The choices theyre making this gen just seem so weird to me. Like they’re going out of their way to undo what made them so successful last gen.

I’d be amazed if this didn’t go to PC. It’s free money for Sony and im sure sales have more or less dried up on PS4 at this point. 1 year isnt very long mind. Seems like the gap is narrowing somewhat.

I’d rather news of a sequel than a port to PS5. As good as this game is, i’ve already 100% it, and just want more. Such a good game!

Knowing that PS Exclusives come to PC less than a year after release would seriously entice me and i am sure others to just upgrade their PCs and forego buying a PS5.

I see why Sony would do this but surely this will hurt hardware sales and boost software sales which cancel eachother out so no real benefit

Also I love how removing a label on box art sends people into a fanboy frenzy. They said recently that 2 years seems right when it comes to ports and the game is a year old. This article means nothing. For people saying to just “upgrade your PC” good luck. A decent graphics card right now is double the price of a Ps5 or Series X. I bought a 3080 off a scalper in November for $900, now that card is going for 2 grand.

@Brydontk Exactly! PlayStation has always been built on the strength of it’s exclusives, having exclusives you won’t find better anywhere else. Now Sony are just putting them on PC also taking away too one of the biggest draws of owning a PlayStation.

Don’t see a problem with this at all. How about before porting games to PC after a few years, Sony puts them on PS Plus/PS Now/native ps5 version to boost up there own service? I don’t get why Sony still hasn’t combined both ps plus/now and remarketed to compete with gamepass in some sense. Ps now is underrated and much better then what people put it out to be in my opinion.

Unpopular opinion, but if Sony wanted to rake in some serious money, all they would have to do is create their own launcher on PC. I know PC players would hate this, but then Sony wouldn’t have to split the profits with another company. If Sony did that, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw all of their flagship exclusives come to PC.

PlayStation has completely alienated me as a long time fan of the brand, I see no reason to get a PS5 if this is the strategy moving forward. If 2 years is all it takes for games to get ported to PC then I’m just going to go all in on PC where I’ll also get every Xbox game.

Their communication has been so poor, the least they could have done is reassure PlayStation owners that exclusives will remain at least for the duration of the whole generation but they couldn’t even tell us that; says a lot about the confidence in their own products.

  11

  gollumb82

  28gollumb827 days ago

Seems to me Sony doesn’t think a PS6 is on the cards so why not just sell their entire library to PC? I mean, it stands to reason knowing that streaming is going to be big in 3-5 years.

As others have said: once PS exclusives become timed exclusives (for a short time, that is) there’s no point in buying a Playstation anymore. Once Naughty Dog games come to PC, I’m selling my PS5 and buying a PC.

The end is nigh! PlayStation is forever doomed and Sony shall fall soon after. No longer shall we enjoy our spare time on the plastic boxes emblazoned with the PS logo for the road to PC is also the road to damnation!

Though shalt instead pay £1100 for thy GPU or switch to Xbox where thou cannot play your favourite games at all….

Oh hang on, now I say it that sounds really stupid. You could get an Xbox Series X and a PS5 and still have change for a Gamepass sub and a few £70 PS games.

Console gaming has never been better, the hardware is top notch for the price, gamepass is total value for money and Sony keep knocking absolute belters out the park for us all.

Leave the PCs for word processing and enjoy your games.

I have been very vocal about this in the past but I’m not sure I care anymore. I still think a situation like with HZD where PC players receive the best version and PS5 are still waiting for the game to be upgraded is far from ideal, but this seems to be an isolated case.

One day they’ll release a game day one on both PS5/PC and if the latter is cheaper then may God have mercy on us all!

I think MS will be happy with more PS games being released on PC, less PS5s sold the better.

Honestly? This might be the last console generation. The industry is largely moving towards digital and it makes sense that Sony is pushing their audience towards that direction. Think about it, PS5 digital edition solely exists to cut the retail middle man out of the picture. Digital Deluxe versions are now being prioritized over physical, not to mention some games only have digital releases. I definitely see a PlayStation launcher happening in future.

I couldn’t play past first 1.5 hr in the game. Mainly how ugly the games visuals are. It just broke the immersion to me as soon as I finished the intro section and got my horse to ride in the field. Yea so PC continues to win, Sony exclusives and Bethesda games, why should one get either console. Awful awful decisions on both PS and Xbox part no matter how you spin it. It’s not about PC folks getting to play but it’s the POINT of getting console first off. Xbox’s spending $7B just to put Bethesda games on PC day one also but keep them away from PS is the silliest of all, I mean it’d even make sense if it was exclusive to Xbox entirely.

Playstation users: You have no console loyalty!

PC users: And you are a slave to it!

Real talk though PC looks like it might be the way to go if your looking for maximum access to games. You get Xbox games, Playstation games, and PC only games.

I prefer console gaming and probably always will, but I do dabble occasionally in PC (especially for the Trails series since 2 of them are only on PC if you want to play in English). Sure the upfront cost is higher than console, but if you get the best of both Sony and Xbox, dropping a grand or more on a beast gaming PC isn’t so hard to swallow all of a sudden.

I already did as I found I was only playing backwards compatible games from X1 and X360 era. No interesting exclusives in sight either, at least from my point of view (I’m a mainly single player guy who prefers good stories over meaningless multiplayer). I have a large Steam library to fall back on if I decide to go back to PC gaming. Exclusives are what keeps me coming back to Sony’s consoles. Funny how I’m tending to see more and more dissent over this issue as Sony continues to go down this road. I remember last year when the HZD PC port was announced how so many of the comments were “who cares?! it’s three years old.” or “why are you so mad more people will get to play it?” Of course, many of those comments are still abundant, but I’m definitely noticing how more and more people are starting to not be okay with this.

In any case, if Sony is indeed putting GoT on PC after only a year, then it just merely confirms what I’ve been saying about what would happen if they start feeling comfortable doing something that offers ZERO benefit to their existing userbase. If a year is now acceptable for a first-party Sony exclusive to lose its exclusivity, how much of a stretch will it be for us to get to merely six months of exclusivity? How much of a stretch is it for that window to keep shrinking until Sony becomes MS and does date-and-date releases? I mean, we’ve already come SO FAR in just a year if Herman Hulst is saying that Sony’s PC players are “important” to them despite the fact that they had no PC players at all just a year ago. This is escalating quickly.

I hope you’re right. I’ve tried xCloud and it sucks due to latency despite my good internet connection (500MB/s). So, I think most people who take the time to comment here are missing one very salient point. We are geeks. That’s why we’re here. We have a higher level of interest in this hobby than the VAST majority of consumers. You know what the VAST majority of consumers are doing right now? Not worrying about Playstation games coming to PC.

Do you know why? Coz they don’t play games on PC and they couldn’t care less about exclusivity blah blah blah. So all this mock shock about exclusives is mostly for naught because your average consumer will do their gaming on a console and geeks will spend too much time moaning on comment boards.

  KippDynamite

  58KippDynamite7 days ago

When people are in the market to buy a product they often find a few good options and compare them. They figure out which product has the traits they want/need and pick that one. I bought a Dyson vac because I wanted a vac with good mobility, a waste bin that’s easy to empty, and a vac that’s easy to take apart. I bought my kitchen table because it was relatively cheap but sturdy and matched my decor. I bought an N64 because I wanted to play Mario 64, Mario kart, and GoldenEye. I bought a PS3 to play Metal Gear Solid 4.

If your product doesn’t have anything unique to offer, there is limited incentive to buy it. One of the main reasons I’ve never bothered with Xbox is because it has nothing unique – I can just get their games on PC if I really wanted to.

PlayStation are compromising their multi-billion dollar business strategy to chase a few million dollars in publisher sales. It seems really short-sighted. It also ignores 40 years of console sales history, and also seems to ignore basic business logic.

Sales of their own games is a drop in the bucket compared to the 30% take they have in every other product sold through their system. The console business is about getting people to buy your console, and then you get free paydays with all of the other sales. Xbox has never focused on this and they’ve also never been first place in any console generation.

  7

  MS7000

  59MS70007 days ago

@twitchtvpat Tsushima has barely been out a year. Sony closing the gaps in releasing “exclusives” on console, and then on PC does not bode well for any supposed PS5 “exclusives” (not that there are many in the first place with Sony turning around and making most of their upcoming releases also on PS4). It feels like they are trying to get games day and date on both PC and console. If that happens, what is the point of owning a PS5?

  6

  Yozora146_

  60Yozora146_7 days ago

@gollumb82 yeah I tried PS Now and the latency is just really off putting, along with random quality drops for me. Google stadia hasn’t really done much for the streaming model market either.

For anyone who doesn’t know though, latency is caused due to the time it takes for data to be sent from one location to another (often called ping) “faster” Internet just refers to a larger bandwidth so more data is being sent but it travels at the same speed. So for an easy to understand example let’s say 1 data packet travels at 60mph and it has to travel 60 miles to get to the server, your latency (or ping) is going to be 2 hours as the data has to come back if your playing a game.

  @twitchtvpat

You may be right for the moment but if GoT is indeed announced for PC in a month or two the gap between the PS4 and PC release will be too small for me to justify sticking with PS. Just so you know, I still haven’t played GoT yet due to backlog (and only finished Days Gone in February) so I don’t mind waiting a bit. PC then gives you the full Xbox and (some for now) PS games, full gamepad support for both console, the option of plugging it into your tv and playing it at the highest quality possible (granted, you need to have a beefy PC). Also, I’ve been waiting for some PC games to play them on PS but can’t because they’re either badly optimised (Assetto Corsa Competizione) or aren’t coming at all (Insurgency Sandstorm- best multiplayer experience I’ve had). Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer to stay with PS for mamy reasons so I’ll just wait and see.

Oh my the gap sure is shrinking between the Playstation and PC release like I knew it would, like I said various times before if you want to know what Sony will look like in a couple of years just take a peak at Microsoft (minus all the money).

Same day releases will happen, there’s nothing that will change that. My follow up question is if you have let’s say Horizon 2 on PS5 and PC, why would you paid more money for the inferior version? I promise you the PS5 won’t be able to do native 4K 60fps with full Ray-tracing at the same time.

  0

  truerbluer

  73truerbluer7 days ago

I have to hand it to Microsoft, they’re single handedly responsible for baiting Sony into putting games on PC. If MS kept their exclusives on Xbox I’m certain they would have fared better in the console competition and wouldn’t have become the embarrassment that Xbox One was. If games like Forza Horizon, Ori and Gears remained only playable on Xbox I certainly would have bought the console for those games and am sure many others would have too. But as soon as they went day one PC/Xbox their consoles became completely redundant.

Now MS has every advantage on PC, they have the default controller that works natively on all modern games and they have their own Windows platform to push Game Pass and take 100% revenue from. Meanwhile Sony has to split their sales revenue with Valve and Epic while conforming to Xbox controller standards so their games work on PC. MS has effectively benefitted the most from Sony’s PC ports as it draws people away from PlayStation and gives MS a base to peddle Game Pass to. Sony only makes money from one time sales on PC and nothing from 3rd parties. Now Sony will be losing out a lot unless they start to implement microtransactions just like all the other major 3rd parties do on PC and their game design and philosophy will be changed irrecoverably going forward.

  Juanalf

Also if you have the money, can get the parts and haven’t invested in a next gen consule I don’t see why you wouldn’t go for a PC at the moment.

You get to play everything from Xbox with the games at their best, you’ll eventually will get to play everything from Playstation with best settings and then there’s the PC exclusive stuff that never even makes it to consoles.

It seems the PC is the jack of all trades and master of all. It’s really sad what’s happening to Playstation, Is losing it’s identify and is trying to transition itself as a service like what Microsoft is trying to do.

@Juanalf The assumption that you get to play games at their best on PC is a bit of a joke to be honest.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to get a PC to do 4k 60fps consistently? Not to mention that getting a GPU at retail price right now is way harder than getting a PS5!

It is also a never ending cycle with PC hardware. You could get a more than respectable 3070 but then there is a 3080 for a bit more or do you go all out and buy the 3080 ti? But don’t forget that if you are going down that route you need the PSU to back it up. Oh and don’t forget that PCs need cooling and the more power you put in it the more fans you need and the more noise the thing makes. I mean you could look at liquid cooling but that’s a whole other ball game in terms of complications and cost.

We haven’t even got to CPU and memory. Oh and if you want decent keyboard and mouse that will set you back a load more cash and you will still end up buying an Xbox or PS controller in all likelihood.

Prices are better in the US but a comparable PC would give you enough money for all 3 current consoles and some.

And the deals on games aren’t anywhere near as good as they used to be either with consoles being pretty comparable.

Online subs are really the only down side to consoles now.

It is prohibitively expensive for most and still doesn’t guarantee best results.

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Some games I’d prefer to play on my PC, on a 24 inch screen. Some on a console with surround sound and a 65 inch screen. Just means I get more choice on which platform to buy it for.

When the PS was a custom bit of hardware it made sense for the games to be platform specific, no real choice. Now? Relatively easy port to anything with an x86 architecture, so why not?

If PSVR2 wasn’t on the horizon I’d be thinking this gen Playstation might be my last. Far cheaper than buying a suitable PC and PC VR system and not offered by XBox.

If you have a physical copy of any PS5 exclusive, look at it.

None of them have “Only on PlayStation” anymore. It’s no longer part of the branding.

  Returnal doesn’t have it.

Ratchet and Clank doesn’t have it.

  Demon’s Souls doesn’t have it.

Some self awareness is needed here, folks. If anyone is angered by this, you needed to understand that you are in a very small minority.

PlayStation exclusives will all make their way to PC now. Not at launch, and not even in the first few years. But it will happen.

The best way to advertise all of these new upcoming PS5 games to PC players is to sell them the previous entries in the series.

So many PC streamers on Twitch who play Dark Souls got PS4s for Bloodborne.

It changes nothing. The console is still at the centre of the experience. The wider market outside of the core demographic still massively favour consoles to PC. I don’t see how anything can change that.

This will do about as much harm to console gaming as mobile gaming did. You can all relax and be happy that now even more people will be playing what are arguably the best first party games in the industry.

@Shepherd_Tallon You say it will do no harm to console gaming yet I’ve bought every Sony console since it has existed and with their move to PC I’m looking to make the jump. So, there will be at least 2-3 console sales lost as I usually buy multiple for my family and I can’t be the only person thinking this way.

  TheFrenchiestFry

  90TheFrenchiestFry7 days ago

All modern PlayStation box art got rid of that. Even third party exclusives don’t have the “Only on PlayStation” thing anymore, as do recent releases like Returnal, Ratchet, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy and Spider-Man. It seems like that kind of branding is dead within the company now

This isn’t necessarily indicative that a PC version is on the way immediately although that would be cool

  1

  TheFrenchiestFry

  91TheFrenchiestFry7 days ago

@The_New_Butler The thing with Nintendo is that they’re probably the one super traditional console maker left in that console and game making is their only facet of business, and they pretty much have nothing else they could generate nearly as much of a revenue on

I don’t see them doing something as drastic as putting Mario Odyssey or Zelda on Steam because unlike Sony and Microsoft they have literally nothing else to fall back on

  1

  Shepherd_Tallon

And like I said, the branding has been removed from all of their boxes.

  @Shepherd_Tallon

Like I said, from where I’m standing, the dissent doesn’t really seem like a minority anymore. At least not as much as it was. Surprise surprise, though, how even in this comment section, many are saying they would gladly drop PlayStation consoles if their games keep coming to PC–people who are literally happy about the prospect of not needing to own a PS system anymore. I find it rather funny how people who are put off by the dissent neglect to acknowledge things like that–the fact that some people are happy about it because they WANT to have a reason to not buy into the PlayStation ecosystem. And Sony is giving it to them.

But sure, totally changes nothing. And PS owners should totally be happy about being directly misled and lied to by Sony and the fact others are going to be playing the superior versions of Sony’s games that won’t be available to people who actually bought and play on Sony’s consoles. Why oh why would anyone have a problem with that?

  3

  The_New_Butler

  94The_New_Butler7 days ago

@TheFrenchiestFry What exactly are the others ‘falling back on’?

The truth is that Nintendo build their games around their hardware and often have very specific mechanics and features that go with that.

They also make a profit on their hardware, so they still rely on hardware sales to generate money. Sony and MS only make money on software, subs, accessories and licensing with maybe a small side line in merchandise.

I’d agree that Nintendo still have the most traditional business model but I don’t think Sony are that different to be honest.

  0

  TheFrenchiestFry

  95TheFrenchiestFry7 days ago

@The_New_Butler Sony has stuff like their other technology and film divisions and Microsoft has literally everything regarding their PC market like Windows and Surface, of which that audience is probably considerably larger than the people who squarely buy their Xbox products

Nintendo literally only has games and game consoles. They’re starting to expand into other multimedia ventures like the Universal theme park and licensing out their IPs to film studios like with that upcoming Mario movie, but any other ventures to bring their game experiences to other platforms like their mobile efforts were extremely short lived and not very well received for the most part

I do agree Sony’s strategy is still not ambitious to the extent of what Microsoft is doing, but they’ve at least broadened their horizons. Nintendo is still very old-fashioned. Some would argue it’s a pretty strict mindset about valuing that people only play on their consoles if they want to play their games or games featuring their franchises. That’s why we get stuff like them DMCA’ing people making fan games or uploading their music to YT

@Shepherd_Tallon “This will do about as much harm to console gaming as mobile gaming did.”

Well, the gaming mobile actually did a lot of harm, not only to console gaming but a gaming as a whole. They basically normalised microtransactions, same way early access titles normalised releasing unfinished games and patching them up later.

  @art_of_the_kill If you’re angry, you’re angry.

This is just my hobby. I love it, and always will. But I don’t live for it so I don’t get angry.

The last time I felt like Sony were trying to mislead me was with that cg Killzone trailer. Everything else is just changing plans.

Remember, the Internet is the mob, and right now the mob hates Sony.

Between E3 2013 and E3 2016 the mob hated Xbox. But very few people today are calling MS liars for putting their games on PC day 1. And their console sales have improved this gen so far.

Nobody outside of the enthusiast community cares about this stuff. We come here and we rage and it doesn’t matter. In a few years everyone will be mad at Nintendo for something and they’ll forget about Sony for a bit.

All I’m saying is, you’re entitled to be angry, but the fact that you’re angry doesn’t matter. There’s too much money to be made here, and Sony want PlayStation to expand and diversify. That’s what this is about.

A company that doesn’t diversify, dies.

@RayNick Come on. Clearly I meant with regards to the impact on console sales.

Everyone said moblie gaming would eat in to console gaming’s slice of the pie. But all it did was make the pie bigger and reach more demographics, while console sales skyrocketed for Sony and Nintendo.

And I promise you, micro transactions were coming regardless.

You can all be angry, but I guarantee you that more people are happy about this than angry.

Think about all of those multiplatform gaming sites, where gamers have shouted for years about how Sony are anti consumer for not putting their games on PC. Most of them will be delighted about this.

  It’s just expanding the audience.

I couldn’t care less about PC as a gaming platform. I work in the games industry and I’m sitting at a PC all day.

Consoles are where I spend my down time.

I’m happy to wait 4 years to get Baldur’s Gate III on PS5, but I doubt if there are PC gamers saying that if it’s going to console, then why are they playing on PC.

  It makes no difference.

  @Shepherd_Tallon

You’re definitely right about people being entitled to be angry. As far as I’m concerned, every single PlayStation owner who is angry about this has a right to be. And it still needs to be pushed back against that the only party who remains angry are Sony fanboys who are sad about seeing their precious exclusivity go bye-bye. This is all about Sony being actively encouraged to act in a way that offers zero benefit to their existing customers: misleading them with exclusivity, then making the best versions not available to those who possibly bought their consoles for them.

Also, no this is definitely not a life or death thing for Sony. Not in the slightest. And you know what, if Sony were really so strapped for cash that they needed to make some extra dough, one cost-saving measure I would recommend is for them to just stop money-hatting timed third-party exclusives. That’s something they could easily stop doing. But no, instead…er…they want to make sure their console has exclusive content worth buying hardware for….while at the same time giving their exclusive content away…?

Yeah, that’s totally not a ridiculous paradox or anything, but Jim Ryan gonna Jim Ryan.

  1

  RayNick

  109RayNick7 days ago

@Shepherd_Tallon You are jumping from point to point, without much cohesion, so it’s hard to follow.

First of all, even back in the day, those who truly “believed” that mobile was going to overtake the gaming mainstream were mostly the people who wanted that industry to thrive (publishers, suits, etc.) or analysts (who don’t often have a good track record). Regardless, it’s always up to the people whether or not something passes and even then, even casual groups didn’t believe that mobile gaming would overtake console/PC gaming, wspecially when PC was rising even more at the time.

Second of all, i never said MX were never coming, they were in one form or another, but mobile gaming was the first step to normalise it on all platforms, while others later took it too far.

Third, i don’t know why you are including me in the “angry” crowd, since i don’t think i expressed any form of anger in my comments. Regardless, i do sympathise with people on some level, not necessarily those who want something to themselves only, but rather those who are feeling misled and aren’t able to make an informed opinion on their purchases.

Not everyone has the money to afford more than 1 gaming console every gen. (sometimes, they even have to choose between a console and a PC as well), so they simply want to make the best purchasing desicion for themselves. Sony however has purposefully misled, or rather witheld information about exclusives games, which ARE important to people (whether they are “hardcore” or “casual” is completely irrelevant). At the very least, they are not upfront about that situation, and that is something that any logical person cannot deny.

Personally, i never cared about forums, especially PC forums were people cry about “gatekeeping” in regards to exclusives, where in fact, PC gamers are the only ones actually benefitting from that. This isn’t a bad thing, so if people want from Sony upfront information in order to potentially make the jump, how come they are unnecessarily “angry” or “entitled” when they don’t get that? Expanding and diversifying comes with consequences, it’s not just “more money”. Sony shouldn’t expect people to just flock on its systems when better options are out there for people.

All in all, i don’t think you should assume that this “anger” only comes from from vocal, illogical and angry minorities who don’t matter, because that sounds really pretentious, deflective, short sighted and potentially out-right wrong. If we are to listen to opinions, we listen to everyones opinions equally, not just those who we tend to agree with more, regardless if it’s a minority or a majority. I’d like to think that that’s not how you think, however your writing came off as something like that.

Lastly, i would like to just say that, if this situation doesn’t actually bother you personally like you claim, then why are you defending a multibillion dollar company’s choice? Why do you care that some people are overly-angry (as you put it) about this? You can just ignore it and move on (not saying you should’t express your opinion, of course you should. However, if you don’t have skin in the game like you claim, then why bother?).

@RayNick Ah, you don’t know me very well.

If I came across as condescending that’s my bad, but I encourage you to check my past comments. I’m a very frank person and I state the truth as I see it without beating around the bush. Since 2016 (this is my second account) I’ve had one argument as a member of this community. Lots of discussions and debates, but only one actual argument.

When I say none of this matters, I don’t mean people or their opinions don’t matter. I mean console games going to PC will not mean the end of consoles.

Console exclusives will continue to drive AAA innovation.

I also mean it doesn’t matter because it will change nothing. More people will be happy about this than angry so the decision will not be reversed. Sony won’t change their minds.

Although I stand by that knee jerk reaction comment and that part about the mob. The internet famously reacts this way.

This is not the end of PlayStation, and nobody has been mislead. (They took the statement off of the boxes and told us the games were going to PC).

All of that passive aggressive stuff where you question my character is a bit much though.

It’s just games. We’re just nerds in a comment section saying what we think about our favourite hobby. We’re allowed to disagree without being accused of ignoring what people think.

Let’s just leave it at that.

@Shepherd_Tallon I don’t know you, and i wasn’t attacking you or your character, i simply stated that the way you referred to the whole “affair” seemed really one-sided and honestly pretty close minded. There was nothing passive-aggressive about that, and i am not going to scour past comments like an armchair detective since i am not interested in your past comments. I am only responding to the current one.

In regards to the matter at hand, whether something matters or not, is up to the individual and not anyone else to dictate. Keeping a cool head and realising it’s all fine and games is one thing, but that doesn’t mean that people should just accept things because they are “just games that don’t matter”. That doesn’t mean that we should resort to extreme things either, or that it will necessarily change stuff, but IT CAN, potentially. Companies do listen on occassion and that’s a good thing, but it won’t happen if people never express their concerns. It doesn’t always happen in a constructive way, but it’s not like these companies have actual enstablished services where people can voice their opinions clearly (and know they’ve been at least heard) either. It’s not a great solution, far from it, but it’s better than nothing.

Exclusivity, hyperboly and the state of Playstation aside, there are real, serious issues i mentioned, like giving proper information so that people who can’t afford to spend a stupid amount of money on games by double/triple etc. dipping and buying a bunch consoles, are able to make a sound investment. So knowing before-hand if exclusives are going to be actual exclusives and not a marketing buzzword that means less than it used to, is something that should be properly addressed. Again, if you don’t like the use of the word “misled” then “purposefully withholding information” is much more accurate. It’s not about a company giving in to entitled gamers, it’s about being up-front with its customers. If they are afraid of losing customers that way, well that’s business. If they are really a vocal minority though, then they really shouldn’t worry about that.

Just saying “games are coming to PC” is vague, it doesn’t properly explain which ones and when and if it can affect a purchase then yes, i think things like these should be addressed.

What worries me is 3rd party output. 3 gens of GTA5 with no sign of a 6, classic franchises turned into online or service games, and just the same yearly garbage year in year out.

Unlike Xbox and PlayStation, iirc Nintendo doesn’t sell their consoles specifically the switch at a loss.

Nintendo profits more from their hardware than their games. Well I think they profit from both hardware and games but more on hardware.

Putting games on PC will hurt Nintendo the most because they don’t sell consoles at a loss. Well the switch doesn’t but Idk about other consoles.

  And also a fact check

  Nintendo hates piracy and modding.
